Guest Code of Conduct
Respectful rural connection — never poverty tourism.
Back2Village guests are visiting real families in real villages. The way you behave shapes the experience for the host family, the village and every guest who follows you.
What we ask of every guest
- Respect host family privacy and home spaces.
- Dress modestly according to the rural context.
- Do not photograph people without permission.
- Do not waste food, water or resources.
- Do not bring alcohol, drugs or harmful items.
- Do not disturb village residents or play loud music.
- Follow your local coordinator's guidance, especially around water, animals and outdoor activities.
- Children must be supervised by guardians or teachers at all times.
- Treat rural hosts with dignity — never as entertainment or a "subject" for photos.
Cultural respect
Rural Bangladesh has deep customs around food, prayer, gender, and household hierarchy. Ask your coordinator if you are unsure. Small acts of respect — removing shoes, accepting tea, eating with the family — go further than any tip.
Photography and stories
Always ask before photographing people, children, kitchens or home interiors. Do not publish identifying photos or stories of a host family without their consent.
If something goes wrong
Tell your local coordinator immediately, or call the Back2Village team. We will respond, mediate and support — quietly and with respect for the host family.
Back2Village is not poverty tourism. It is respectful rural connection.
